NJDOE Recognizes Plainfield Schools for innovation, diversity, and student-centered learning in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution

Plainfield, NJ — September 12th, 2025, This upcoming school year, the Barack Obama Green Charter Schools have been officially designated as New Jersey Revolutionary Schools, an accreditation granted by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) in partnership with RevolutionNJ. This award celebrates schools that demonstrate innovation, promote diversity, and embrace student-centered learning. 

The New Jersey Department of Education developed the Revolutionary Schools initiative to ensure that the activities and supports created through this effort extend beyond the commemoration, becoming long-lasting staples of the school curriculum and strengthening social studies education for years to come.

 RevolutionNJ invites students to explore the democratic ideals of liberty and justice, by commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. The program is designed to support students in discovering the importance of social studies and civic education. 

This award helps to highlight and represent the diverse perspectives of the next generation, empowering them to become informed, engaged citizens who contribute meaningfully to their communities and engage in policies at large.
